PM Modi explains how India will become $5 trillion economy in 5 years

A day after Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented Budget 2019, PM Narendra Modi painted a picture of how India will become $5 trillion economy.

Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the budget, said the Modi 2.0 cabinet is all about making India a $5 trillion economy by 2024.

On Saturday, PM Modi stitched every topic of the Union budget with how India will attain 5 trillion economy. “Everyone is a stakeholder in this country,” PM Narendra Modi said while addressing the BJP workers in Varanasi.

PM Narendra Modi said it is important for everyone to understand what does $5 trillion economy goal for India means.

“It is important to know about this because there are some people who doubt the capabilities of Indians. They are saying it is very difficult for India to achieve this goal. However,
it would be a matter of courage, of new possibilities, of the sacrificial fire of development, of serving Maa Bharati, and dreaming of New India. These dreams are largely linked to the goal of $5 trillion economy,” PM Modi said.

Per capita income

PM Narendra Modi said the developed countries were also developing nations once upon a time. There was a time in the “history of these countries when per capita income grew rapidly in a short time”.

“Today, looking at the history of most of the developed countries, at one time, the per capita income was not very high. But, there was a time in the history of these countries when per capita income grew rapidly in a short while. This was the era when these countries came from developing to developed countries,” PM Narendra Modi.

PM Narendra Modi explained how rise in per capital income is beneficial to everyone and how it will help our country.

“When per capita income increases in any country, it increases the purchasing capacity. When the purchasing capacity increases, the demand increases. As demand increases, production increases, service expands. This increases per capita income, increases family savings,” PM Modi said.

Sanitation

Highlighting the Swacch Bharat scheme, PM Modi said a clean India will make it easier for the country to become a $5 trillion economy.

“We are also focusing on building a clean India, a healthy India, a beautiful India to make the $5 trillion journey easier. The contribution made by every citizen of the country to sanitation over the years has reinforced our efforts to build a healthy India,” PM Modi said.

Farmers

PM Narendra Modi said the government has much higher plans for the farm sector. He said the government is looking at the farmers as exporters and not just as mere producers.

“Now, we are looking at the farmers as exporters and beyond just being producer of food. We have the potential to export food, milk, vegetables, honey or organic products. Therefore, the budget has special emphasis on creating an environment for export of agricultural products,” PM Modi said.

Nirmala Sitharaman, in her first budget, said the government aims to invest widely in agriculture infrastructure and allied areas, and would seek support from private entrepreneurship for value addition in farm sector especially in food processing industry.

Infrastructure

PM Narendra Modi said how building infrastructure is significant for the country’s growth. From building infrastrucure for storing agricultural produce to building roads and highways, PM Modi said this budget will leave no stones unturned for developing the infrastructures of every sector.

“We are building infrastructure throughout the country as per the requirements of the 21st century. Infrastructure for storing produce in village, construction of modern facilities in cities, efforts are being made at all levels. We will invest in buidling of infrastructure in all sectors includidings highways, railways, airways, waterways, digital, broadband facilities in the village will in the coming five years. Villages are to be built 1.25 lakh km of roads in coming few years,” PM Modi said.
